Now that the New Year is here, many of us have set goals for 2020. Why is this so important? Setting goals through planning is a key factor in achieving what’s important to you. Creating goals can be a vital part to the success of your business, workout regiment, family planning or spiritual vision. Simply put, planning will give you the direction you need to reach your goals. You know where you are headed, how you are going to get there and a timeframe in which to accomplish the result you are striving for.
Effective planning is like a roadmap to your destination. It keeps you focused on the goal and motivates you to keep going when you follow up on your progress. What is also required is your commitment, concentration and consistency to reach your dreams. The first step is to write your goals down to help clarify what you want to accomplish. Most people, they strive to achieve more than one goal. For me, I have various categories in which I have set goals for: Business, Spiritual, Health (Physical/Mental), Financial and goals for my Non-Profit Organization. Creating an outline is the beginning stage to making my vision come alive. Categorizing, followed by, a step by step plan with attainable deadline dates work well for me. Planning helps me to organize my time and resources to effectively meet my goals.
There are so many benefits of Goal Setting: 1. Provides Direction 2. Keeps you Focus 3. Gives You Control 4. Provides Motivation 5. Gives you Satisfaction 6. Helps to Support Your Purpose. Whether you work for yourself or someone else, goal setting is the key to success.
Outlining and writing down your goals is the easy part. What I find is, although your goals have been strategically devised, the inconsistency with follow up is what hinders the progression towards the end result. What has helped me is my weekly planning day to celebrate what I have accomplished and address what did not get done. This way, I feel a sense of achievement for the goals I've slayed and I can also analyze why the goals, which were not achieved, did not get completed. I call it ~ “Going Back to The Drawing Board”. Such a Cliché’ – HaHa. My suggestion is to visit your goals weekly, quarterly and yearly. You will find that it will keep your goals “Under the Radar”and you will eventually SOAR to the next level!
So, to all of you who are working, running your business, excelling in your role of being a great wife & mom and carving out time for self-care -> Keep working your goals and keep your “Eye on the Prize”.
